SRI and Consortium Promote Cybersecurity R&D: The Institute for Information Infrastructure Protection (I3P), a consortium of 23 security research institutions including SRI, is encouraging the U.S. government and private companies to increase cybersecurity research and development by focusing on technology for vulnerability scanners and for the scanning of individual computers for attack sources. SRI Receives Network Security Monitoring Patent: An SRI-developed technology for defense against "cyber-attacks" has received a fundamental U.S. patent. SRI's technology includes both distributed sensors that continuously monitor for such intrusions and consolidated alerts for analysis and action. New Speech Recognition Software for Computer-Based Education Tools: SRI announced EduSpeak 2.0, a speech recognition toolkit designed for use in language learning, reading development, and corporate training software programs. Combat Training System Integration for the California Army National Guard: SRI has been awarded a $3M contract to develop a Congressionally supported initiative, the "Joint Training Experimentation Program" (JTEP), a combat readiness training system for the California Army National Guard that integrates live battle exercises with computer-based simulators.
