Silicon Valley Executive Alan DeClerck Joins SRI International to Pursue New Ventures and Licensing Opportunities
Menlo Park, Calif. —February 5 , 2009—SRI International, an independent, nonprofit research and development organization, announced today that Alan DeClerck has joined the company’s Ventures, Licensing, and Strategic Programs team as Executive Director, IT and Computing Sciences Commercialization. In this role, DeClerck will pursue business opportunities in the IT, consumer, and web space. DeClerck will use his corporate and start-up experience to develop new ventures and licensing opportunities for SRI's diverse technology portfolio.
DeClerck comes to SRI as a 17-year veteran of Sun Microsystems, where he held numerous positions in sales, corporate development, business strategy, and partner marketing, including international responsibilities. Most recently, he served as Global Partner Executive for the Sun/Oracle Business Unit, with lead responsibility for ensuring long-term alignment between the companies across product development, marketing, services, and sales.

While at Sun, DeClerck held the position of Director of Corporate Development. He also served as International Director of Strategic Software and Integrator Alliances in Sun's worldwide sales organization, responsible for partner activities across EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Prior to this, DeClerck drove business development and marketing for FirstPerson, Sun’s Java start-up venture.
In addition, DeClerck previously held executive positions in early-stage companies, including Vice President & General Manager of the Corporate and Government Division of Beyond.com, and Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Skystream Networks.
DeClerck holds a Master of Philosophy degree in International Relations from Oxford University, an M.B.A. from Stanford University, and a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Brown University.
