Abstract

Oxygen atom decays in nitrogen were measured by laser induced fluorescence following complete photodissociation of ozone at 248 nm. Rate coefficients determined for O + O + N2 are 2.5, 4.6, and 19.5 × 10−33 cm6/molecule2/s at 316, 262, and 171 K, with estimated 30% uncertainty. Results are in excellent agreement with the Baulch et al. [D.L. Baulch, D.D. Drysdale, J. Duxbury, S.J. Grant, Evaluated Kinetic Data for High Temperature Reactions, vol. 3, Butterworths, London, 1976, p. 33–64] recommended Arrhenius expression.
