Senior Technical Assistance Specialist, SRI Education
Cindy Weigel has more than 30 years of experience with organizations serving young children and families. Currently, she is working with the Center for IDEA Early Childhood Data Systems (DaSy) and the Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTA) supporting states to revise their early intervention and early childhood special education systems to improve the outcomes of infants, toddlers and preschoolers with developmental delays and disabilities and their families.
Weigel’s vast experience includes working with multiple state agencies to support young children including those with disabilities through program development and evaluation for public and private early childhood programs, family engagement and support efforts for families with young children moving beyond welfare dependency to self-sufficiency, complex systems change at state and local levels, policy and practice development for early childhood programs, strategic planning, and building statewide data systems for young children served under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Her areas of expertise include leadership, management and evaluation of large programs and projects, complex systems change, program development, early childhood special education, early childhood systems, and engaging disenfranchised or marginalized populations. Weigel also is interested and has experience in qualitative and mixed-methods research. Weigel earned an MS in human development and family studies with an emphasis in early childhood special education and a BS in teaching pre-kindergarten and kindergarten with a special education endorsement from Iowa State University.
