Abstract

Transient photoconductivity measurements provide a definitive test to distinguish between geminate and non-geminate recombination in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells. We report the results of such measurements on BHJ solar cells fabricated with two different semiconducting polymers, and show that neither exhibits significant geminate recombination, for measurements at room temperature and 200K. The transient photoconductivity data is analyzed to give estimates of mobility and recombination lifetimes in the cells.
