Emma Terrell, MEd, is an education research associate who supports research and evaluation projects focused on educational media, play-based learning, and early childhood development. She is experienced in project management, data collection, and qualitative methods.

At SRI, Terrell works on a variety of projects, including supporting data collection for the Corporation for Public Broadcastingā€™s Ready To Learn Initiative, a study investigating the impact of educational media on young children from low-income families. She also provides project management for the Story Trails pilot evaluation, a collaboration between Too Small to Fail (TSTF) and KABOOM! This study explores how literacy-rich play paths (Story Trails) in Philadelphia area parks might support child-caregiver interactions and child-directed play, as well as caregiversā€™ perceptions of play spaces, community engagement, and belonging.

Before joining SRI, Terrell was a researcher at WolfBrown, an arts education research and consulting firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There, she led data collection and analysis efforts on a variety of arts-based research and evaluation projects with Carnegie Hall, the William Penn Foundation, and the Community Music Center of Boston.
