Namwoong Paik, Ph.D., Senior Director of the Center for Advanced Imaging at SRI International, leads the group to develop the advanced imaging solutions to various markets and customers.
Nam and his team’s focus include the advanced imagers and systems for space, lowlight, Lidar and scientific imaging. Key programs include lowlight imagers for IVAS (US Army), the space -qualified sensor for Europa Clipper (ESA/NASA) and lowlight imagers for Next Generation Advanced Bomb Suit (US Army). Also, the group has received distinct recognition from their contribution to the society including the latest awards of Edison Award and SRI’s Changing World Award.
Prior to joining SRI, Nam was the director of engineering at United Technologies Corporation (currently, Raytheon Technologies), where he led the various engineering disciplines to develop Shortwave Infrared (SWIR) systems for DoD and commercial applications.
Before joining UTC, Nam worked for Philips Semiconductor (Now, NXP Semiconductor) as a senior engineering manager responsible for various sectors including high-K, poly-silicone, CMP, metallization and involved in technology development related to next generation RF, automotive sensors.
Nam has published 30+ papers through peer reviewed journals and holds 10 U.S patents. He received a M.S., Ph.D. in Physics/Engineering Physics from Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ, and B.S. in Physics from Yonsei University in Korea.
