Abstract

This work presents an analysis of the progressive in terms of partial realization of an event description. An event can be said to partially realize an event description only against a context-dependent modal background in which a development of the event fully realizes the event description. I discuss the consequences of the analysis for existential generalization with the progressive, for the possibility of incompatible developments, and for the multiple choice paradox.
